Christmas 2018

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve was spent at my mom and step dads house. We spent Christmas with Shae’s moms side last year so we switched this year. We spent the morning having a big breakfast and finishing up last minute Christmas planning + details. Once the evening rolled around, we all went outside and hung out there for awhile. Everlee loves being outside, so this was especially fun for her. She was jumping in puddles, riding on the lawn mower and throwing sticks in the pond.

I put on a homemade buffalo chicken dip on the crockpot in the afternoon (I will post the recipe soon) and we ate all sorts of appetizers for dinner. We had mozzarella sticks, hot wings, chips and dip, potstickers and crab. It was all delicious and we were all stuffed!

One of our Christmas Eve traditions that I grew up doing was opening up pajamas to go to sleep in and wake up in for Christmas morning. We still do it and I’m so excited to continue this tradition with Everlee. For her, we put together a Christmas Eve box that had a plaid night gown, a new Christmas book to read that night, a new sippy cup, a snack cup and some Reindeer Mix from Target. So she got to have milk and Reindeee Mix as a snack before bed.

Shae and I put Everlee to bed together, we read her the last story in her Disney Countdown to Christmas book, her new book and put her in her crib. Once she was in bed, we all got to work on putting her play kitchen together from “Santa.” That way she would wake up and have it all put together and displayed. The boys mostly tackled this and my mom and I started putting together stockings for everyone. Now that my siblings and I are all adults we started a tradition last year that we draw names for who gets whose stocking. Shae and I do a stocking for each other every year, and this year I drew my moms name and Shae drew my sister in law Tehya’s.

Christmas Morning

Everlee woke up at 7am sharp and she was so curious about her play kitchen from Santa. She was also very interested in her stocking. She emptied it first thing! Her stocking had Bath Color Drops, another new sippy cup, a water bottle, some lotion, another snack cup, fruit snacks and a few other little things. Her kitchen was stocked with the cutest kitchen utensils and pots and pans.

I failed big time on pictures. I was so wrapped up in watching her experience it all. She was here last Christmas but this year she was able to react and walk out and it was just magical!

My mom and brother started on breakfast. They made pancakes with strawberries and whip cream, an egg and sausage bake, hashbrowns and bacon. While we waited for breakfast to finish we opened up our stockings and gifts. Everlee was so much fun to watch unwrap gifts. Eventually I had to start unwrapping for her because she would get occupied with toys she got.

After breakfast, me, Shae, Everlee and my brother, Chadam headed to Astoria, Oregon to go spend Christmas evening with them. We got there to a ginormous snack table so we all ate our weight in snacks. We opened gifts right before dinner and then had Thanksgiving dinner round 2. We eneee the evening watching basketball and relaxing and I was ready to crash by 9 but went to bed around 10.

Christmas this year was perfect. It was a great last year with all of our family but we are excited for Christmas at our house next year.

How was your Christmas this year? What was your favorite gift you got?
