One of my favorite things about the holidays is all the baking that goes on. As a tradition, my mom has always liked to bake a bunch of her favorite holiday treats and give them out on a cute Christmas platter to friends and family, so this year we compiled a list of a few favorites alongside some new ones! We are getting together soon for a full day of baking to put these together, and I am so excited about it. So be sure to look out for the final product in a future post!
Candy Cane Peppermint Kiss Cookies
These cookies are so stinkin’ cute and look delicious! I’m a sucker for a sugar cookie (with candy canes mixed in!?) and also peppermint kisses, so I was immediately drawn to these. I also really want to try out these Peppermint Meltaway Cookies! I feel like most holiday treats are made with chocolate (fudge, peanut brittle, etc.) so I wanted to pick out a few things that steered clear from chocolate. If you didn’t already know, I really dislike it!
Christmas Tree Brownies
Do you see how cute these are?! Okay, not only are they so cute, but they are so simple. You just use your favorite boxed brownie mix, a jar of your favorite white frosting with green food coloring and decorate these babies to perfection! I thought they were to die for and you would be surprised at how good a person can make boxed brownie mix taste. My mom somehow, someway makes them taste freshly baked from scratch and as many times as I try, it’s never the same. So she will be in charge of these for our Christmas plate this year.
Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods
For as long as I can remember, we’ve always made white chocolate covered pretzels every holiday season. Melt the almond bark, coat the pretzels, make a huge mess… ring a bell? So this year, we are kind of modernizing those and making pretzel rods, dipping them in a mug filled with almond bark and decorating them to our liking. I am so excited for these and all the customizing we can do! I want to crush up some candy canes and do a few peppermint ones as well.
Microwave Peanut Brittle
This is one that is made every year that is staying. Everyone loves this easy microwave peanut brittle and my mom has been making it for years. It’s one less thing you have to cook on the stove or in the oven and your an just throw it in the microwave. I am not a fan of peanuts in my candy, so this is one I do not eat but based on it being one of everyone’s favorite holiday treats, I think it’s safe to recommend it!
Crockpot Christmas Crack
by Just a Pinch
We have never made this before, but have heard lots about it! We decided to ditch the fudge for a change and try out crack. Haha! I love that you can just throw this in the crockpot and let it do it’s thing until finished. We all love crock pot meals, so I’m sure we will all love crock pot crack! If you have had this before, how good is it?!
