Happy Friday, everyone! I wanted to join in on doing a Five on Friday post every week. This means every Friday you post five things; whether it be your favorites, a recipe, events that happened during the week, etc. So join me on Friday’s and let’s get started!
ONE: Shae has been gone the last few weeks for training and on Monday he finally came home! These last couple of months have been really hard because he has been gone so much. Thankfully, Everlee and I get to go visit family while he is gone, so that makes it a little less hard. So to celebrate him coming home, we (I) decided to ditch cooking dinner and we went to MOD Pizza instead. Also, you should have seen how happy Everlee was to have her daddy home. As she gets older, her reactions are so amazing to watch and something I will cherish forever.
TWO: I am finally starting to get over a very bad cold I’ve had. I have actually been pretty miserable considering pregnant women have limited options on what is safe to take. So I wanted to share with you guys my saving grace- TheMedicine Ball. If you don’t know, people with colds swear by the “Medicine Ball” or “Cold Buster” from Starbucks off the secret menu. So instead of spending $5 for one, I figured I could just buy all of the ingredients and make my own in my pajamas at home. I picked up all the ingredients at Walmart – one stop shop is the way to go!
MEDICINE BALL RECIPE:
1 cup with half steamed water & half steamed lemonade (I just fill a cup with half water & half lemonade and microwave for 2 minutes)
1 bag Teavana Jade Citrus Mint Tea
1 bag Teavana Peach Tranquility Tea
1 Tbsp Honey
Peppermint (optional) – I prefer no peppermint
You just add the tea bags, and stir in the honey and let the bags sit for about 5 minutes. I had one or two of these a day and it really feels amazing on your throat. If you try it out, let me know what you think!
THREE: I am a dry skin girl. Emphasis on dry. It is no fun and I am constantly on the lookout for good moisturizers. I picked up this C & C Don’t Flake Gel Moisturizer from Ulta and have been using it for the last couple weeks or so and I am really loving it. I really enjoy it for night time. I wake up and I truly feel like my skin is so soft and actually glowing. My mom even complimented my skin last week first thing in the morning! I do use it for day time as well and it works fine, but I can actually see the effects of it when I wake up in the morning rather than throughout the day. If you have any great moisturizer recommendations for dry skin, PLEASE send them my way!
FOUR: Everlee had her 15 month wellness checkup yesterday. A whole month behind! At first I kept putting it off because her 1 year visit was a w f u l. The poor girl hates going to the doctor. We were also out of town and the soonest I could get her in was a few days after she turned 16 months old. It was a pretty traumatizing appointment. By the end I was wanting an extra large cocktail. But anyway, my big girl is now 22 pounds and around 31 inches long!
FIVE: Shae has a 4 day weekend this weekend because of Veterans Day. He so deserves it after the long last few months he has had. But if you are serving and/or have served in the military, I wanted to wish you all a Happy Veterans Day and thank you for serving our country. Go take advantage of getting a great deal on a meal (some even offer free)! If you are wanting to know of some restaurants offering Veterans a deal this year, I found a list here.
